What's it like to be an intrepid explorer....and a woman?
Expedition to Mystery Mountain is a come-along adventure of a woman who retraces the early exploits, made nearly 100 years ago, by fearless trailblazer and pioneering mountaineer, Phyllis Munday. The ambitious mission: to recreate the first exploration to Mount Waddington, the highest peak in B.C. in vintage hobnail boots, with a fifty-pound packframe and only an antique ice axe for safety. Can she endure the hordes of mosquitos, the bears, the Devil's Club and the other dangers on the List of Doom?
The way forward is uncertain. Fear is a given. Just keep going.
Far from civilization, the gear fails, a few men become sick, and the fear of not being good enough pursues her as she faces the unknown. Pushing on, she's encouraged by the badass women throughout history for their good humour and grit. At every turn, obstacles appear, yet her biggest obstacle may not be the impenetrable bushwhacking, the heavy packs and her aching muscles. Will she be able to overcome what is holding her back?
